Diabetes/Wellness testing will be held on Friday, Oct. 16. in our gym.  English teachers already have permission slips for their students.  Those slips will be going home with students today and tomorrow.

SHAN students helping animals in need, is having their first meeting on Wed., October 7th immediately after school from 2:30 to 3:45 in the C cafeteria. If you haven't signed up yet, you are more than welcome to attend.

There will be an important meeting for the cheerleading club members for shoe fittings in Ms. Evans' classroom on Wednesday, October 7, in room A125 at 2:30pm.  Please make an effort to be present and to be on time.

All Returning & New FBLA members - Please join us Wednesday afterschool in the Auditorium for our club picture, please dress for success.

All students interested in joining the Debate Team, please report to room E-215, at 2:35pm on 10-06-09.  Also, there will an African American Club meeting on 10-07-09, at 2:35 pm in room E - 215.

Attention all DECA members there will be a general meeting Friday October 9, 2009 at 2:45 in room F117. Also DECA will be taking their club pictures Thursday October 8, 2009 at 2:45 in the gym. Please dress for success. Thank you.

K.C.K.C.- The Key Club Kick-Off Conference will be held this Saturday, Oct. 3rd at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School located at 500 SW 127 Avenue from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm.  All Key Club members are encouraged to participate in this even, however, you must arrange for your own transportation.  Take $5 for breakfast and lunch.

Key Club members, be reminded, Club Pictures are on Thursday, Oct 8th in the auditorium after school. Wear your club colors (royal blue and gold) and your tap cards.

The Kiwanis of Greater Miami Lakes is sponsoring a Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF drive to help the children of Uruguay.  If you would like to participate in this Kiwanis activity, please sign up at the next Key Club meeting Wednesday afternoon in Room F110.

Attention all HOSA members! Listen up for important deadlines- $20 payment for the HOSA breakfast is due Monday, October 19th to Mrs. Pierce in room A102.  $130 Camp Kulaqua payment is due Friday, October 9th to Ms. Evans in room A125. Remember only twelve members will be chosen, first come first serve!

The National Technical Honor Society will have a meeting on Wed. Oct 7 at 2:40 pm. You can still pick up a application in room A102 and return it on Oct 7. Thank You.

The Bible Group presents the Timothy Generation. It meets every Thursday, right after school in room B-210. Refreshments will be served.

The Hispanic Heritage Committee is having a door contest, as part of our Hispanic Heritage Celebration. The winner will be announced on October 12, and will receive a pastelito party through 2nd period homeroom. All doors must be completed by October 8, in order to enter the contest. Our theme is "Embracing MLEC's Hispanic Roots, As We Welcome Our Cultural Diversity".

Anyone who received a Future Educators of America application during the club fair and has not returned it to Ms. Corbett in E-209, please do so as soon as possible.

Post Secondary will begin collecting for the United Way campaign today, Tuesday October 6, 2009.Instructor’s forms will be put in their mail box.

Currently, JAGUARS we have reached 5% of our goal, we have a ways to go but YOU CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN! Remember our goal is $1 per student make sure you bring your donation to your 2nd Period Homeroom.

Students are reminded to come to school each day on time! Students if you are absent, remember that 5 unexcused absences in an annual course, or 3 unexcused absences in a semester course, will result in a no credit (N/C) for the class.  MLEC is in a block schedule, therefore 5 unexcused absences in an annual course WILL result in 10 unexcused absences and WILL result in a no credit being issued, and 3 unexcused absences in a semester course will equal six absences and also result in a no credit.  Remember if you are absent you MUST bring a note and receive an admit to excuse your absence. Admits are issued in the Student Services Office prior to the start of school each day and during lunch and after school in the Main Office with Ms. Wellman. Do not be absent unnecessarily
Students arriving tardy to school must sign in at the Tardy Center. Students with excessive tardies will be required to serve an Administrative Detention.  BE ON TIME!!! AND COME TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY!!!
