The FCAT Retake test will be administered on October 6 & 7, 2008. The Reading Retake will be next Monday and the Math Retake will be next Tuesday. All students who need to retake one or both parts of the FCAT, should have received a testing room assignment letter from their 2nd period teacher. If you need to retake the FCAT and did not receive a letter or if you received a letter, but you now have a concordant SAT or ACT score, please see Mrs. Ambas-Viada as soon as possible in Room E238. If you are scheduled to take this test, report directly to your testing room at 7:30 am on your assigned day and bring photo identification with you. During testing you will NOT be allowed to be in possession of any type of electronic device; having an electronic device within arms reach WILL result in test invalidation.

The PSAT test will be administered Wednesday, October 15, 2008 to all 10th graders and to registered 11th graders. Testing room assignments will be distributed through 2nd period this Thursday. If you are scheduled to take this test, you are to report directly to your testing room with a photo ID. You will be provided with a 4-function calculator for the math portion, but you may bring a scientific or graphing calculator if you wish. Cell phone calculators and calculators with QWERTY keyboards are NOT allowed. Please note that scientific and graphing calculators are only allowed for the PSAT, NOT the FCAT.

The Principal’s Word of the Day is
RAMIFICATION (RAM uh fuh KAY shun) n a consequence; a branching out
A tree could be said to ramify or branch out, as it grows. A ramification is a consequence that grows out of something in the same way a tree branch grows out of a tree trunk.
The professor found a solution to the problem, but there are many ramifications; some experts are afraid that he created more problems than he has solved.
