Students who attend 2 consecutive tutoring sessions will earn a MLEC credit card. Make sure you sign in for tutoring.
Points earned on the MLEC credit card can be use for detention passes, free lunch, and tickets to various MLEC school events!
Remember Juniors you have an opportunity to go on a special class trip by earning 30 points through Saturday tutoring or earning a 3 or higher on the science FCAT!
 
ATTENTION ALL ECOLOGY CLUB MEMBERS AND THOSE INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT ABOUT THE ECOLOGY CLUB ACTIVITIES AND ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES.  THERE WILL BE AN IMPORTANT ECOLOGY CLUB MEETING TODAY, AFTER SCHOOL AT 2:40 PM IN ROOM E224. BE THERE!
 
The National Technical Honor society meeting will restart this Thursday and continue throughout the rest of the year. We will meet in room B228 at 2:40 p.m.
 
The Math Club is offering tutoring for all students Mondays and Thursdays from 2:40 to 3:40 in room E119.
Math Tutoring with Mrs. Ambas in E235 will be changed from Mondays to Wednesdays for the remainder of this school year. 
 
Teachers and students, all library books are now due.  Please return or renew them as soon as possible.  Thank you.
 
The drafting club will be meeting on Thursday January 10, 2008 from 2:40 to 4:00 pm.
 
There will be a DRAMA CLUB MEETING discussing the remaining events for the year, Wed., Jan 16th in the Auditorium @ 2:30PM
 
All HOSA breakfast money must be paid to Ms. Pierce by Thursday, January 10.  The cost is $15.00.
 
Members of the Women of Tomorrow please turn in your Field Trip form no later than tomorrow, Thursday, January 10th, 2008 to Ms. Jones.  Remember that the bus will leave promptly at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.  You need to DRESS FOR SUCCESS.
 
Juniors you no longer need to wait! The Class of ’09 shirts are here. They will be distributed in front of the auditorium, today and tomorrow during both lunches. However, you must not wear the shirts to school until the 25th of January. You must present your student ID in order to collect your shirt.

MLEC has a new club.
 
We have been selected to participate in the O Ambassador’s Program which is a joint project of Oprah’s Angel Network and Kids Can Free the Children.  Our activities will provide support in developing countries while we follow an action guide provided by the ambassador program.
 
See Mrs. Truitt in E-212 to sign up and get involved.  Our first meeting will be January 16.
 
Attention all students who are interested in participating the Black History Show 2008, there will be auditions held this Thursday, January 10, 2008 in the Sound Engineering Room F 123 @2:40p.m – Please be prepared to perform your audition piece.  For furthers details please see Mr. Oxidine or Mr. Campbell.
If you did not already pick up your shirts, you will now have to pick them up in Room E102H (Ms. Tigerino’s office) after school.  A reminder: you can only wear your shirts the 4th Friday of every month, this month on the 25th of January.

The 2008 Miami National College Fair will be held Sunday, February 17, 2008, from Noon - 4 p.m. at the Sheraton Miami Mart Hotel, 777 N.W. 72nd Avenue. Don’t miss this invaluable opportunity to meet over 100 college representatives from around the country.  Also, information sessions in English, Spanish and Creole, will be given throughout the day on topics such as “paying for college”, financial aid, scholarships, and more. For more information see Ms. Mathos in student services.
There will be a National Honor Society meeting in E213 on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 2:45 p.m.
 
Students with absences, remember if you have 5 unexcused absences in an annual course, or 3 unexcused absences in a semester course, you will receive a no credit for the class.  We are in a block schedule, therefore 5 unexcused absences in an annual course WILL result in 10 unexcused absences and WILL result in a no credit issued, 3 unexcused absences in a semester course will equal six and a no credit.  Remember if you are absent you MUST bring a note and receive an admit in student services to excuse your absence.  Do not be absent unnecessarily.  Students arriving tardy to school will be required to serve an Administrative Detention.  BE ON TIME!!! AND COME TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY!!! Students with perfect attendance for the entire school year will have the opportunity to win a very special prize.
