Due to technical difficulties this morning many of you may have missed the principal’s word for the day. The principal’s word for the day is Banal (buh nal, bane ul). Banal is an adjective that means unoriginal, ordinary. Here is an example of banal used in a sentence:
A banal statement is boring, trite and very uncreative.
Teachers and students please make sure that you return the school climate surveys to students services by Tuesday, January 31st.
Teachers progress reports go out this Wednesday, February 1st. The six period day is printed on the back of the memo that was attached to your blank progress reports.
Teachers this is a reminder that all seniors need to report to the auditorium at 7:30 am Wednesday morning for the Cap & Gown assembly. Seniors will return to your classroom by 8:10 to receive their progress reports.
Juniors the results of your vice presidential election will be announced tomorrow afternoon. Candidates please take down all posters and flyers by the end of second lunch tomorrow.
Seniors – This is a reminder that Dr. Burrus from the Miami Dade Honors College will be here tomorrow – Tuesday – Jan. 31 from 9:00 AM – 10 AM in Cafeteria C. If you have a 3.5 or higher GPA, come by the CAP office for a pass to hear this important information.
PTSA is still selling advance tickets for the Dade county youth fair and advance tickets for the February 10th valentine’s day dance. Tickets are on sale before and after school and during lunch - dance tickets are $5.
The class of 2006 prom committee will be meeting after school in room E111 this next week.
Key Club will have its monthly meeting Wednesday at 2:40 in Ms. J. Collin’s office in student services.
The debate club will be meeting Wednesday in room E205 at 2:35 pm.

Valentine’s Day personality pictures will be taken tomorrow in the auditorium from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. by appointment only! All appointments have been filled. Teachers-all students who made appointments have an appointment card with a signature.

The African American Read-in will take place next Monday, February 6th. After reading during our reading block students should write a summary on a strip of colored paper about an African American author or on a book or article they have read with an African American theme. These strips will then be linked in a chain and displayed through out the school.
