- The Principal’s word for the day is ALACRITY (uh LAK re tee). ALACRITY is a noun that means cheerful eagerness or readiness to respond. Here is an example of ALACRITY used in a sentence:
David could hardly wait for his parents to leave; he carried their luggage out to the car with alacrity.
- Teachers and students please make sure that you return the School Climate Surveys to Students Services by January 31st.
- Saturday School Tutoring for the FCAT will begin this Saturday at 8:00 a.m. Students please make sure you arrive on time.
- Teachers- this afternoon there is an emergency election for the class of 2007 vice president. All juniors should report to the auditorium at 12:45 pm. This position was very recently vacated and must be filled so that the necessary students are in attendance at EESAC meetings. Teacher if you have a primarily junior class please escort them to the auditorium.
- HOSA competition field trip forms must be returned to Ms. Algaze today. All HOSA breakfast field trip forms are due to Ms. Pierce no later than Monday.
- PTSA is still selling advance tickets for the Dade county youth fair and advance tickets for the February 10th valentine’s day dance. Tickets are on sale before and after school and during lunch - dance tickets are $5.
- Auditions for the 2006 African American history show will begin next week Monday, January 30th and Wednesday, February 1st; so get your performances ready. Remember to make sure that all performances are relevant. Last year’s show was amazing---let’s make this one even better.
- Auditions to be in MLEC's first production of "15 minutes of fame" are today. Come and be prepared to audition today at 2:40pm in the auditorium.
- The Class of 2006 prom committee will be meeting after school in room E111 all next week. Again, prom committee meetings will resume next week.
- Key Club will have its monthly meeting next week Wednesday at 2:40 in Ms. J. Collin’s office in Student Services.
- The Debate club will be meeting Wed. Feb. 1st in room E205 at 2:35 PM.
- The Drafting Club is meeting has been changed to next Thursday, February 2nd in room A104 at 2:35.
- Valentine’s Day Personality pictures will be taken next week Tuesday, January 31st, in the auditorium from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. by appointment only! Please see Ms. Corbett-Perdomo in the activities office to make an appointment. You may only take a picture if you have made an appointment.
