Administrative
- Miami Lakes Educational Center is currently participating in various United Way campaigns.
- Bottled Water Drive - All MLEC employees and students are asked to participate by bringing in either gallons of water or 16oz bottles. Theses are the only two types of sealed bottles of water that can be accepted for this drive. Flyers will be distributed with more information.
- Regular annual drive- The student campaign runs through Oct. 19th and the employee campaign runs through Oct. 12th. Homeroom collections will begin Sept. 19th.
- Teacher- Please review the Professional Development opportunities that are available to us right here on campus. A list was placed in your mailboxes last week. Much work has been put into planning these workshop-PLEASE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEM!
- Teachers of high school students - A set of letters to parents/guardians was place in your mailbox yesterday afternoon. Please distribute to your 1st period class today.
Academic
- Students who participated in the June administration of the FCAT test may pick up their results on any odd day from Ms. Lawrence in E238 if you have not done so already. Any student who has needs to RETAKE the reading and or mathematics sections of the FCAT will participate in the September 27 - 28, 2005 administration of the test. Students will be notified at a later date as to where they should report. This test administration is only for juniors and seniors who need to RETAKE ANY PORTION OF THE TEST.
Clubs/Classes
- If you plan to join the sports club or the fitness club please see Ms. Arterburn or Mr. Willenborg to get a school insurance form and more information. The deadline to join is September 21st.
- DECA is having a meeting for all returning and new members today in A118.
- Class of 2007 will have an officers meeting tomorrow in E228 at 2:40pm.
- Drafting club will have a meeting tomorrow in Mr. Victor’s room A104.
- 5000 Role Models of Excellence will meet tomorrow in E114 at 2:40. If you signed up during Club rush week you should attend. All returning members must be present.
- SADD will meet Thursday at 2:35 in Mr. Reyes' Rm. F125.
- Attention all students the math club is looking for members. If you are interested in going to math competition, filed trips, and earning community service hours see Mr. Fernandez or you can attend the math club meeting Thursday the 15th in E119.
- The music club will meet Thursday in F123 Mr. Grau’s room immediately after school.
- Attention Miami Lakes Educational Center faculty & staff members: the MLEC Wellness committee will have its first meeting this Thursday, September 15th in the E-Building Conference Room at 2:45. All interested faculty & staff are encouraged to attend.
Miscellaneous
- Students, Ms. Duran our trust counselor is requesting that you see your homeroom teacher for a form if you are interested in participating in a trust group.
- The MLEC PTA/PTSA is selling SAT practice test/workshop tickets at this time. The cost is $5.00 and the practice test will be on the first Teacher Work Day, Oct. 4th, from 8:00 until noon. Students need to arrive by 7:45 for registration. Students will take a practice writing, verbal, and math test, similar to the new SAT and will leave with a detailed answer book for the practice test. Participants will also receive detailed test results within a week and be able to enter into a $10,000 scholarship sweepstakes.
