A Moment in Black History
On this day in 1936 football star Jim Brown was born on St. Simon's Island, Georgia. He broke offensive back records for the Cleveland Browns, starred in films, and founded the Negro Industrial and Economic Union. Also, in 1963 Michael Jordan, who is considered one of the greatest basketball players to ever play the game, was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Wilmington, NC. Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to six NBA championships.

All faculty, staff, and students should have on an ID at all times when on campus.
Students, fines for overdue books in the media center will now begin Tuesday, February 22nd. Make sure you either return your books or re-new them by this afternoon to avoid fines.
Teachers, there will be an important faculty meeting Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at 2:40 p.m. in the “C” cafeteria. Please plan to attend.
Academic
Students: FCAT tutoring scheduled for Saturday February 19th has been changed to Friday, February 18th the teacher planning day from 9am until 12 noon because of the long weekend. Again, there will be no tutoring this Saturday. Tutoring will be on Friday.
Teachers - this is a reminder that Miami Lakes Educational Center's College Fair will be held today in Cafeteria C. A revised schedule for this event was placed in your box. Teachers, please adhere to the schedule also remind students about proper behavior while in attendance. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Mathos.
The following students need to pick up transcripts from the registrar if you have not already done so: Nayroma Martinez, Ashley Jitta, Dayana Cintron, Fabricio Rivas, Guillermo Espinosa, Nina Castillo, and David Zaldivar.
Clubs/Classes
Seniors to purchase your ticket, you must check with Ms. Jerome (the school treasurer) to clear any financial obligations then see MR. A. Rodriguez in E204. Tickets are $23 and going fast. All field trip forms need to be turned in today before 2:40pm.
The MLEC drama department invites you to attend “A Night of One Act Plays” tonight. Tickets are five dollars. This will be the only show so get your tickets today.
There will be a SECME meeting today after school in room E-221.
Attention All Black History show participants: There will be practice next Tuesday and Wednesday. Please make the necessary transportation arrangements. The practice will begin promptly after school today in auditorium. All performers MUST be present.
