A moment in Hispanic Heritage
Carlos Santana was born in Mexico in 1947 and was introduced to traditional music by his father, a mariachi violinist, when he was five years old. Santana has become an internationally celebrated guitarist. He is enjoying a long career and great success. [Click here for Carlos Santana's website.]

Academic
ATTENTION STUDENTS WHO MUST RETAKE ONE OR BOTH SECTIONS OF THE FCAT: All of your teachers have been given a listing of where you are to report for the mathematics test which is Monday, October 4th or for the reading test which is Tuesday, October 5th. Please check with your teachers for your room assignments. Students are to report directly to their testing centers and attendance will be taken there. TEACHERS: Please remember to inform students of where to report to your classes on the test dates.
Clubs/Classes
Club and class sponsors there will be a brief sponsors meeting next week Tuesday in F106 to begin preparations for the Harvest Fest and other October activities.
And now in sports…Congratulations again to American Sr. High’s boys bowling team. Our very own Tyler Rose led the team to victory against Miami Edison Sr. with a high game of 197.
Jaguars keep bringing us stories of Jaguars in disguise. If you participate in any type of athletics at another school, please inform the yearbook staff.
Interact and the Entrepreneurship Academy is requesting your help in providing hurricane relief to our neighbors in Haiti, now through October 8th. We are collecting clothing and various personal items. See Ms. Lama or Mr. Bevilacqua for more information.
Club and Class meetings are as follows:
• 2006 general meeting will be next week Monday at 2:40 in E116
• Video production club will meet next week Monday, October 4th at 2:40 in Radio Broadcasting C46 (Officer nominations will be discussed)
• DECA-next Wednesday, October 6th in E230 (Field trip information will be distributed.)
• MLEC’s School Newspaper The Panthera is having a meeting next week Wednesday, October 6th. Anyone interested should see Mr. Moffi in E230 at 2:40 pm next week Wednesday.
• Hispanic Heritage Assembly practice is every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If you do not practice or have appropriate costuming, you will not be in the show. If you would like to perform in the show see Mr. P. Rodriguez in F110. Attendance must be taken at all meetings and a copy left in the “Completed Activities Attendance” mailbox in building E.
