A Moment in Hispanic History
Dr. Ellen Ochoa is a veteran of three NASA Space Shuttle flights. She has logged over 719 hours in space, traveling four million miles in one mission alone! Before NASA selected Ellen to become an astronaut, Ellen proved herself on Earth by getting a doctorate degree in electrical engineering and co-inventing three patents for optical engineering systems. In April, 1993, Ellen became the first Hispanic-American woman in space.
Administrative
Teachers, there is a faculty meeting today at 2:45 in Cafeteria C. There will be a special election for the Teacher of the Year Committee.
Today is the last day of School pictures. All faculty and staff need to come to the auditorium to take a picture. This includes EVERYONE! Do not complain about your pictures in the yearbook, we will use what we have. Please take a few moments and visit another part of our campus the F-Building Auditorium. The photographer will remain set up until the faculty meeting begins.
The Culinary Arts Cafeteria will be closed Thursday, September 30th and Friday, October 1st, due to preparations for our SACS/COE visit. It will re-open for lunch on Monday, October 4th.
Students, please remember to treat your school as your second home. Please pick up behind yourselves. Do not leave trash around.

Clubs/Classes
Jaguars, our 1st Pep Rally and Basketball Jam will be Friday, October 8th. We are going to put together some entertainment for this and other pep rallies. All who are interested please see Ms. Perdomo this week during lunch to sign up. Classes, get your teams ready! All class teams need coaches and players.
Attention all class officers: there will be an important Basketball Jam meeting tomorrow in E204 at 2:40.
Any Class of 2008 student interested in being a part of the 2008 Basketball Team or Pep Squad please come to room E132 Wednesday after school for an important meeting.
This Thursday there will be Basketball Jam tryouts on the basketball court. Please look for your class representative when you get there. ALL students wishing to try out for the Basketball Jam this Thursday must provide proof of school insurance. The insurance may be purchased from Mr. Willenborg for $9. To try out and play, you must have proof of school insurance.
2005 Prom committee will have an important meeting tomorrow in E204 at 2:50.
Chess Club will have its 1st meeting tomorrow in E237 with Mr. U.
Yearbook will have its 1st open meeting this week Thursday, September 30th in F106.
SECME will meet Thursday, September 30th at 2:40 PM in room E-221. New members are welcome. We will be discussing this year's Olympiad. Don't be late.
Attention Juniors-Class of 2006 will have its 1st meeting this Thursday afternoon in E116.
Book Lovers Club's first meeting will be this Thursday, September 30th in Room 207.
