Juan Ponce de Leon was the first Spaniard to set foot in what is now the United States. He conquered San Juan, Puerto Rico, found Bimini Island, and explored the Florida Keys and the west coast of Florida.
Administrative
Faculty and staff, there will be a COE/SACS Steering Committee meeting this Thursday at 2:40pm in the C-conference room
Teachers, there will be a faculty meeting Tuesday, September 28th at 2:45 in Cafeteria. There will be a special election for the Teacher of the Year Committee.
Academic
Jaguars, Governor Bush is inviting you to participate in the Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest. The topic is “How has the life of a Florida Hispanic inspired you?” See your English teacher or one of our Spanish teachers for more details.
Returning members of the National Honor Society will meet today in E234. If you are interested in becoming a member of NHS please stop by and pick up the criteria for membership.
Clubs/Classes
Students, Fox-Mar studios will be here Monday, September 27th and Tuesday, September 28th to take your yearbook pictures and allow you to purchase a picture packet. Please do not bring any payment envelopes until the day that you take your pictures. If you did not receive a payment envelope, please see Ms. Perdomo in F106 during lunch today.
Freshmen class officer candidates, there will be a meeting tomorrow in E230 at 2:40 to discuss campaign etiquette.
Ever felt like getting up and not worrying about making sure your clothes match; well here’s your chance. Tomorrow is Wacky Tacky/ Mixed Match Day. Students, whatever you wear must still fit our dress code policies.
Class of 2008; your class colors for Friday will be announced this afternoon. Your colors are not yellow and black. Again, freshmen your colors are not yellow and black. All class colors will be announced this afternoon.
The Spanish Club will have its first meeting today in F110.
DECA will have a meeting for new and old members today in Mr. Moffi’s room E230.
There will be a Class of 2007 meeting at 2:40 today in E228 Ms. Evans’ room.
The Video Production Club will meet today immediately after school in C-46, Radio Broadcasting.
Sports Club begins today. Stop by the gym and pick up a parent permission slip and information about school insurance
Cheerleading practice will be today in the Dance room next to the gym at 2:30.
We will have activities buses every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. You must have participated in an authorized after school activity to receive an Activities Bus Pass and ride the bus. No student may ride the activities bus without a pass. Sponsors, Activities Bus Passes have been placed in your mailboxes if you need more see Ms. Perdomo in F106. Students, if you do not get an Activities Bus Pass from your sponsor, you will not ride the bus. Please fill out the pass and know your regular bus stop. Buses will leave at 3:45pm sharp.
