…And now for a moment in Black History…
Today in 1940 soul singer William "Smokey" Robinson was born in Detroit, Michigan. Robinson's first singing group was the Miracles which he formed in 1955 while still in high school. The group's first success came in 1960 with the hit, "Shop Around."
Also on February 19, 1942 The Army Air Corps' all African American 100th Pursuit Squadron, later designated a fighter squadron, and was activated at Tuskegee Institute. The Tuskegee Airmen squadron served honorably in England and in other regions of the European continent during World War II.
This moment in Black history was sponsored by MLEC’s Technology Student Association and the National Technical Honor Society.

Students are reminded to come to school each day on time! Students if you are absent, remember that 5 unexcused absences in an annual course, or 3 unexcused absences in a semester course, will result in a no credit (N/C) for the class.  Remember if you are absent you MUST bring a note and receive an admit to excuse your absence. DO NOT GIVE YOUR NOTE TO YOUR HOMEROOM TEACHER. Admits are issued in the Student Services Office prior to the start of school each day and during lunch and after school in the Main Office with Ms. Cheron. Do not be absent unnecessarily.
Students arriving tardy to school must sign in at the Tardy Center in the C Cafeteria. Students with excessive tardies will be required to serve an Administrative Detention.  BE ON TIME!!! AND COME TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY!!!  If you have any questions regarding attendance please speak to Mrs. Forteza in the Student Services Office.
