MLEC is proud to announce that the following members of the Class of 2009 have been accepted to the following prestigious institutions:
 
Robin Simpson and Victoria Morgan – Cornell University; Samantha Jean Baptiste – Columbia University; and Taylor Masiello – United States Military Academy at West Point.  Please extend congratulations to them as you see them throughout the day.
 
Basketball Jam will take place this afternoon in the gym, a limited number of tickets are still available, you can purchase tickets during both lunches.
 
MLEC Night live will take place this evening at 6PM, come out and support Drama at MLEC!
 
ALL STUDENTS THAT NEED TO ATTEND NIGHT SCHOOL FOR MISSING OR FAILED CLASSES MUST SEE THEIR GUIDANCE COUNSELOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO OBTAIN YOUR NIGHT SCHOOL FORM.  SENIORS THIS IS YOUR LAST OPPORTUNITY TO SIGN UP FOR MISSING CREDITS IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO GRADUATE IN JUNE.
 
SENIORS THAT WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN SENIOR ACTIVITIES MUST SUBMIT THEIR COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS TO MS. MATHOS BY FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12TH.
 
Key Club is selling Holiday plushies in Cafeteria F during lunch for $4.00.  Plushies come with a candy cane and a card and will be delivered to that special someone during 1st block. 
 
Key Club and Interact are collecting used electronics.  These trash items will be recycled responsibly and, thanks to Brandsmart USA, they will be transformed into treasures for needy children.  Bring your used cell phones, video games, MP3 players, and electronic chargers to Ms. Biddings' room (E202) and receive 2 community service hours for every item donated. 
 
The Winter Blast Dance which was originally scheduled for this Friday, December 12, 2008 has been postponed.  The new tentative date for the Winter Blast II is Thursday, January 15, 2009.  Stay tuned for more details.
 
Auditions for the Black History Show will resume: 12-11-09, 12-16-08 and 12-18-08.
 
Students Helping Animals In Need is having their first meeting Thursday, DEC 11 in room e126. Everyone is welcomed!
 
A mandatory African American Club meeting will take place this Friday immediately after school in room E-109.  All members and interested students are welcome.
 
NHS is accepting applications for officers stop by the Student Activities Office to pick up your application. DEADLINE DEC. 12th at 2:30PM. A brief election will take place Monday prior to the Holiday Gathering. All members and candidates are reminded to attend the NHS Holiday Gathering Mon., Dec 15th.
 
Students are reminded to come to school each day on time! Students if you are absent, remember that 5 unexcused absences in an annual course, or 3 unexcused absences in a semester course, will result in a no credit (N/C) for the class.  Remember if you are absent you MUST bring a note and receive an admit to excuse your absence. DO NOT GIVE YOUR NOTE TO YOUR HOMEROOM TEACHER. Admits are issued in the Student Services Office prior to the start of school each day and during lunch and after school in the Main Office with Ms. Cheron. Do not be absent unnecessarily. 
Students arriving tardy to school must sign in at the Tardy Center in the C Cafeteria. Students with excessive tardies will be required to serve an Administrative Detention.  BE ON TIME!!! AND COME TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY!!!  If you have any questions regarding attendance please speak to Mrs. Forteza in the Student Services Office.
