The PSAT test will be administered Wednesday, October 15, 2008 to all 10th graders and to registered 11th graders. Testing room assignments have been distributed through 2nd period. If you are scheduled to take this test, you are to report directly to your testing room with a photo ID. You will be provided with a 4-function calculator for the math portion, but you may bring a scientific or graphing calculator if you wish. Cell phone calculators and calculators with QWERTY keyboards are NOT allowed. 

Drama Club presents the play "Alice in Wonderland" October 15th @ 3PM, and October 16 and 17th @ 7:30PM. Tickets are on sale starting Monday October 6th during lunch for $5. Don't miss the school years' first play!

The Hispanic Heritage Luncheon will take place Monday, October 27th. Purchase your tickets today!!!

Get your Diabetes Screening permission form from your English teacher. It needs to be signed by a parent and returned right away so a reservation can be made for you to be tested.

VICTORIA MELISSA MORGAN, a Miami Lakes Educational Center student, has won the Cambridge Scholar Award for her performance on three International AS level subject examinations. Please Congratulate Victoria when you see her.

On Saturday – Oct. 18, 2008 - Florida International University will be hosting its annual college fair at it’s south campus on SW 8 st. in the Graham Center Ballroom from 10 AM – noon. Don’t miss this great opportunity to meet over 100 college and university representatives and gather important information regarding your post secondary options. Everyone is welcome to attend.

There will be a mandatory African American Club meeting this Friday the 17th of October 2009 in room E-109. All members and new members please attend.

The Miami Dolphins have partnered with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools to offer select tickets to Miami Dolphin games (Tickets to the Raiders are still available.). The proceeds of these sales will go towards supporting Student Activities at Miami Lakes Educational Center. Tickets are only $20. (Regular face value $52) This is a substantial savings!!! Help support MLEC and the Miami Dolphins!!! Stop by the Student Activities Office for more information! RAIDERS tickets will only be sold through October 30th!!!

"Do the right thing" is back again for the 2008-2009 school year. Any teacher interested in selecting an outstanding student please see Mr. G. Campbell in student services for more details and check your mailboxes for all necessary forms.

Students are reminded to come to school each day on time! Students if you are absent, remember that 5 unexcused absences in an annual course, or 3 unexcused absences in a semester course, will result in a no credit (N/C) for the class. Remember if you are absent you MUST bring a note and receive an admit to excuse your absence. DO NOT GIVE YOUR NOTE TO YOUR HOMEROOM TEACHER. Admits are issued in the Student Services Office prior to the start of school each day and during lunch and after school in the Main Office with Ms. Cheron. Do not be absent unnecessarily. 
Students arriving tardy to school must sign in at the Tardy Center in the C Cafeteria. Students with excessive tardies will be required to serve an Administrative Detention. BE ON TIME!!! AND COME TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY!!! If you have any questions regarding attendance please speak to Mrs. Forteza in the Student Services Office.
