The PSAT/NMSQT test will be given Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Miami Lakes Educational Center. Eleventh grade students who take this test are entered into the National Merit Scholarship Corporation's Scholarship Contests. If you are a Junior and would like to register for this test, see Mr. Moffi in Room E230 or Mrs. Ambas-Viada in E238 by September 29, 2008. The cost of the test is $13.00

STUDENTS ARE ADVISED YOU MUST WEAR YOUR ID! ADMINISTRATORS WILL BE ON THE LOOK OUT! DETENTIONS WILL BE ISSUED.

The Hispanic Heritage Committee is having a second period homeroom door decorating contest It has extended the deadline until September 25th, and the winners will receive a pastelito party. The theme for our contest is: "Together We Make MLEC Stronger ".

Auditions for the Hispanic Heritage Show will be held October 1 and 2 at 2:40 in rooms F-205 and F-207. Bring your music. If you can not attend auditions on either day, you must contact Mr. Rodriguez in Room F-207. Practices for the show will begin on October 8 at F-Cafeteria after schools.

There will be a Drama Club meeting for all members Wednesday, Oct. 1st @ 2:30PM in the auditorium. All students wishing to be a part of this year's Drama Club may attend.

The Bible Club is meeting in room B210 (automotive) every Thursday at 2:35 p.m. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be served. Thanks for your cooperation.

Students because of you, MLEC earned its “A” Performance Grade. Therefore, students will be allowed to wear “Official” Class and Club shirts in lieu of their Academy shirts on Fridays ONLY. Students you MUST adhere to our uniform policy at all times.

There will be an NHS meeting on Monday, September 29th at 2:45 in A102. See you there.

Black History Club" will be hosting its' first meeting this Friday the 26th of September 2008. The meeting will be held in room E109.

On Saturday – Oct. 18, 2008 - Florida International University will be hosting its annual college fair at it’s south campus on SW 8 St. in the Graham Center Ballroom from 10 AM – noon. Don’t miss this great opportunity to meet over 100 college and university representatives and gather important information regarding your post secondary options. Everyone is welcome to attend.

National Vocational - Technical Honor society will hold a meeting on the 24 of September in room B228 @2:40 pm every body that is interested is ask to attend. We will be going over the Club rules.

Interact will meet briefly on Friday, September 26, in room E202 with Mrs. Biddings at 2:40 pm.

The Miami Dolphins have partnered with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools to offer select tickets to 2 Miami Dolphin games this season (Bills and Raiders). The proceeds of these sales will go towards supporting Student Activities at Miami Lakes Educational Center. Tickets are only $20. (Regular face value $52) This is a substantial savings!!! Help support MLEC and the Miami Dolphins!!! Stop by the Student Activities Office for more information!

Students are reminded to come to school each day on time! Students if you are absent, remember that 5 unexcused absences in an annual course, or 3 unexcused absences in a semester course, will result in a no credit (N/C) for the class. Remember if you are absent you MUST bring a note and receive an admit to excuse your absence. DO NOT GIVE YOUR NOTE TO YOUR HOMEROOM TEACHER. Admits are issued in the Student Services Office prior to the start of school each day and during lunch and after school in the Main Office with Ms. Cheron. Do not be absent unnecessarily. 

Students arriving tardy to school must sign in at the Tardy Center in the C Cafeteria. Students with excessive tardies will be required to serve an Administrative Detention. BE ON TIME!!! AND COME TO SCHOOL EVERYDAY!!! If you have any questions regarding attendance please speak to Mrs. Forteza in the Student Services Office.
