Students you may have noticed we’re sprucing up. We’re expecting special guests. Miami-Dade County Public Schools is a finalist for the prestigious Broad (Pronounced BRODE) Prize for Education. Our school system is 1 of 5 school districts across the country selected as finalists. Miami Lakes Educational Center was selected by the Superintendent and District to represent Miami-Dade County Public Schools because of our outstanding educational programs and your achievement. On Wednesday, May 2nd the Broad Prize Committee will be visiting our school, stopping by classrooms and talking with faculty and students. Students, we remind you to please adhere to our uniform policy and Dress for Success guidelines. This is truly an honor for all of us!

Please announce that Tiffany Bain was accepted to Bethune-Cookman University and received a $10,000 scholarship.  Also, she just interviewed for an internship with the Emma Bowen Foundation.
 
Susan Maldonado has won $250.00 for her entry in the Art of Aging contest.  Congratulations Susan.
 
Congratulations to Maria Redondo, Francisco Arana, Calvin Rojas, and Jimmy Hernandez for coming in third place in the district for the Miami Math Madness team competition at Dolphin Stadium. They competed against 140 other students at the competition. Congratulations!

PLEASE PRINT OUT THE ATTACHMENT SO THAT YOU MAY POST IT IN YOUR ROOM. ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMINATIONS ARE EXCRUCIATINGLY LONG. THEREFORE, ANY INFORMATION WE CAN FILL OUT IN ADVANCE IS ALWAYS APPRECIATED. PLEASE INFORM THE STUDENTS WHO ARE IN YOUR CLASS (ES) THAT THEY ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN THE AUDITORIUM AT 1:00 P.M.
