What is the CAST Test?
The test was developed across several jobs to predict the
probability of success for several categories of construction and
skilled trade jobs. The CAST Test is approximately 2½ hours and
consists of the following 4 sections:
1. Graphic
Arithmetic
– Measures a candidate’s ability to solve arithmetic problems using
information from prints or drawings. For example, from a labeled
drawing determine the distance between two drilled holes or
calculate the surface area before the holes were drilled.
2. Mechanical
Concepts
– Measures a candidate’s ability to understand mechanical
principles. For example, determine at which point (left, center or
right) to hook a cable to keep a beam horizontal when lifted.
3. Reading
Comprehension
– Measures a candidate’s ability to read and understand written
materials.
4. Mathematical
Usage
– Measures a candidate’s ability to work with mathematical formulas.
For example, calculating the number gallons in two quarts.

What Happens After I Pass the CAST Test?

FPL will contact you to schedule an interview

All interviews will be scheduled from 4 PM to 8 PM (Monday to
Friday) in 45-minute intervals.

You must bring a photo ID (i.e. Florida Driver's License or
other state approved photo ID), know
your social security number, and return the hold harmless
agreement (signed/notarized).
